Job Description

  • Building relationships and creating environments which characterise positive experiences and support early childhood development.
  • Ensuring communities are inclusive and provide ample opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning and care journey.
  • Supporting children’s social and emotional development in order to facilitate the development of optimum physical and mental health.
  • Respond to additional needs and develop care plans to support in conjunction with external professional agencies, parents and children.
  • Proactively engaging all children and parents, encouraging consistent parental involvement.
  • Organising events, together with team members, children and the community.
  • Promoting positive transitions to primary school.
  • Creating a safe and secure environment for children of all ages to play and explore.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum Level 5 required

Job Types: Permanent

Pay: €14.50-€18.25 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Letterkenny: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience Required

Early childhood education: 1 year (preferred)

Further Information

  • Conduct observations of children under the guidance of Aistear and document these accordingly.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the service.
  • Cleaning, tidying and storage of equipment and toys after use.
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of activities suitable for different School age children groups
  • Maintain room, and equipment, to ensure the health and safety of children at all times.
  • Ensure a good standard of hygiene.
  • Organise materials and toys to the benefit of children.
  • Support children’s holistic development through planned activities. All planning must be fully completed on a weekly basis.
  • Attend meetings and undergo training as required.
  • Be aware of child protection procedures and advise manager should you have any concerns about a child.
  • Ensure the standard of your work is of high quality with ongoing efforts to develop new learning.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, any breach of confidentiality about children or their families will constitute gross misconduct.
  • Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.
