Job Description

An AIM worker in a naíonra supports the inclusion of children with additional needs in an Irish-language preschool setting. They collaborate with educators to adapt activities, promote social inclusion, and provide individual support to children with disabilities. Responsibilities include facilitating communication, monitoring the child’s progress, and working with both teachers and external specialists to ensure the child fully engages in daily activities. The AIM worker also assists in fostering independence and aids in transitions to primary school, while maintaining regular communication with families. This support continues throughout the child’s participation in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programme, provided there are no changes to the child’s or setting’s circumstances.

Qualifications Required

A major award in Early Childhood Care and Education at Level 5 of the National Framework for Qualifications (NFQ) or an equivalent qualification as recognised by the DCEDIY. A minimum of Level 5 in Childcare and knowledge of the Irish language is required.

Experience Required

Experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
